History / Background
The Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Jammu is a premier institute under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. Established in May 1979 as the Regional Research Centre (Ayurveda), the institute was upgraded in 1999, renamed as the Advanced Regional Research Institute (ARRI) in 2009, and later designated as the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute for Urinary Disorders (RARIUD) in April 2016.
Located in the culturally rich and ecologically diverse region of Jammu, the institute is committed to conducting high-quality research, clinical studies, and community health programs that integrate traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern scientific approaches. RARI, Jammu actively undertakes:

To promote and strengthen Ayurveda through quality research, clinical services and documentation of medicinal plants, contributing to the integration of traditional knowledge with contemporary healthcare needs.
Mission
To conduct scientific studies for validation and development of Ayurvedic formulations and therapies.
To undertake clinical research on priority health conditions using Ayurvedic interventions.
To document and study regional medicinal plants with potential therapeutic value.
To provide evidence-based Ayurvedic healthcare services to the public.
To organize public health awareness and outreach programs for the promotion of Ayurveda.
Objectives
To generate scientific data supporting the efficacy and safety of Ayurvedic medicines and procedures.
To develop and maintain a repository of medicinal plants native to the Jammu region.
